Stewart Bruce

Stewart Bruce is the GIS Program Coordinator, Assistant Director of the Center for Environment and Society, and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Washington College. In addition to teaching, heal so manages numerous funded projects spanning the gamut from crime mapping and analysis to youth technology training in GIS. He is the Project Director for the Maryland Crime Mapping and Analysis Program (CMAP), the Maryland Highway Safety Office Impaired Driving Reduction Program, and the Maryland Vehicle Theft Prevention Council leading a team of eleven crime analysts supported by numerous student interns. Projects for CMAP include analysis on demand services to law enforcement throughout Maryland and managing the Maryland Offender Management System and the Maryland Intelligence Analysis Platform. Washington College is also an approved technical assistance provider for the Bureau of Justice Assistance National Training and Technical Assistance Center. Stew is also developing an early stage technology spinoff company called Pandion5D that will focus on use of virtual worlds including active shooter training scenarios in local schools. Previously he worked as Senior Extension Associate at Penn State University in the Cooperative Extension Geospatial Technology Program. Prior to working at PennState, he established a regional GIS Department at Mifflin County, PA.
