Professor George Zalidis

Leader of multiple centers of geospatial excellence in Greece and around Europe Professor Zalidis is a recognized leader in the global geospatial information community. Director of the Laboratory of Applied Soil Science and the Laboratory of Remote Sensing and G.I.S., at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at the Faculty of Agriculture. Professor Zalidis also acts as Scientific Coordinator for the Interbalkan Environment Center (i-BEC). i-BEC, a member of the Group on Earth Observation (GEO), engages in the integrated management and protection of both transboundary watersheds and natural resources by developing and managing integrated environmental data information systems to support development initiatives, entrepreneurship and competitiveness in multiple sectors of the regional economy and society. These applications are designed to serve the needs of territorially focused policy makers, businesses and the public at regional, national and international levels.
