Lt Colonel Wilbert Ligtenberg

LtCol W. Ligtenberg BA EMSD is the Branch Chief Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) & Space for the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF), located at its Headquarters in Breda.

After graduating at the Royal Military Academy in 1998 he was commissioned as an intelligence officer for the RNLAF and filled many positions on the operational and strategic level. He worked for RNLAF units and its headquarters, as well as for the Defence Intelligence & Security Service (DISS) as an analyst, briefer and senior advisor plans & policy. In 1999 – 2000 he was head of the multinational intelligence section at Amendola, Italy, supporting missions of the Deployable Air Task Force operating above former Yugoslavia. In 2006-2007 he was head of the National Intelligence Cell (NIC) in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

He is a graduate of the Advanced Commander’s and Staff Course at the Netherlands Defense Academy, has an executive master degree on security and defense (EMSD)
